Nearly all of the 50 major armed conflicts and civil wars fought during the 1990s and early 2000s involved Developing Countries, “South” of the ideal border that divides the affluent from the poor economies. None of these conflicts could have lasted for years and could continue to be fought today without the constant supply of arms and ammunition from the arsenals of the main arms manufacturing countries. Directly or indirectly, through special programs, covert transfers, complex triangulations, private arms dealers and more often simply through regular sales, the governments of a handful of powerful countries have never stopped to feed the arms supply-chain that starts at the core of their economies and often ends up in the killing fields of the several peripheries of the planet.

About us

TransArms founders shared a long experience in the analysis of strategic economic sectors and in consultancy for international logistics companies.

In the late 1990s, they decided to devote their expertise to the efforts of organizations that were trying to expose and denounce the deadly consequences of the arms export rush that had followed the end of the Cold War.

Thanks to the support of two US private foundations they carried out the research projects that lie at the basis of the information endowment presently managed and developed by TransArms.

From that incipit, TransArms has grown to become a network of researchers who are based in different countries and share not only their diverse expertise but also the commitment to high research standards and professionalism.
